An ISO 14001 transfer recognizes a current accredited environmental certificate and replaces it with a certificate from the accepting body. The aspects, the legal register, and the controls on the plant or the job site stay as they are. The transfer checks that the certificate is real and in date. It leaves the environmental system in place.
What is specific to an environmental certificate?
Sites do more work on ISO 14001 than on a desk-based standard, because the aspects are physical. A transfer review looks at whether every site on the certificate was part of the audit programme, and whether permits or other legal duties inside the scope were visible at the last audit. A site added after the last audit, and never brought onto the certificate, is an extension. Extensions are quoted separately. See changing scope during a transfer.
SMG is accredited for ISO 14001:2015, with industry sectors stated on the accreditation. The review checks the sector as well as the standard. The certificate of accreditation is linked from the partner page.
Which findings stop the transfer?
A major nonconformity that is still open stops the new certificate, on this standard as on any other. Environmental findings often concern a permit limit, a waste stream, or an emergency control that was described and then not used. Those close on evidence. If the current body accepts the closure before the transfer decision, the file stays simpler. If it will not, the accepting body has to see the evidence before SMG issues a certificate.
A suspended environmental certificate cannot move. The detail is in suspended or expired certificates.
How does the quote help?
Choose ISO 14001 and Transfer from another body on the application. Name the sites and say whether they do the same work. Those two facts change the review and the surveillance that follows. The written offer states scope, timing, and price while the current certificate is still valid, which is the window the transfer has to use.
IAF Consultancy carries out the review and any visit the file requires. SMG issues the certificate. After that, surveillance continues for the rest of the cycle, as described in surveillance after a transfer.
